A systematic review of 10 articles reporting 11 empirical studies. Every study located women who met formal definitions of intimate partner violence but did not describe their experiences as victimization. The review draws out the consequences for screening, outreach, and counseling practice.

A whole-population survey of men across eight villages in rural Uganda. Most men neither endorsed nor perpetrated intimate partner violence, but roughly half believed most other men did. Those men were significantly more likely to endorse and perpetrate it themselves.
